As much anxiety as living here in the Capital District (Arlington to be precise, the “county”- it isn’t technically a city-, the uber competitive mecha for the super elite.) has brought into my life, the experience has also introduced something positive. It has shown me that my thoughts, ideas, and activities are valid. And they have validity not just for me and my little family, but they have a place in the community and in society at large. Through tumultuous adaptation I am no longer afraid to put my thoughts and ideas out there. Out where? Out into the vast wilderness of scrutinization. While there is still an element of angst associated with opening myself up to stark criticism, I have learned that not doing so limits my potential exponentially and keeps closed any door that may open to my quirky albeit unique thought processes.
